British Values

Our approach to covering British Values will be focused on the following principles: appreciating cultural influences; understanding the role of Britain’s political / parliamentary system; participating in cultural opportunities; and understanding, accepting, respecting and celebrating diversity.

During lessons at TWAPA pupils will consider how British Values relate to the topics / themes they are studying, examples of questions they may be expected to consider include:

  • How has this influenced British values and culture?
  • How has this event shaped people locally, nationally and internationally?
  • Is this a significant issue in modern Britain?

As part of or Form Time Programme, once per week pupils will take part in a session based on exploring British Values in more detail; pupils will also cover many elements of our British Values curriculum during PSHCE lessons, these are a core aspect of the curriculum offer at TWAPA.
