Supporting Students’ Mental Health and Wellbeing
Students within our setting often arrive amongst a complex backdrop of social, emotional and mental health needs. Therefore, ensuring these students feel supported to achieve their potential and achieve their best possible life chances is of paramount importance. We understand that students may require additional support with their mental health throughout their time in school. Therefore, ensuring strong links with the wider school community across Calderdale and most importantly with the young people in our setting is fundamentally important. Whatever issues our students or their families face, we always support proactively, ensuring appropriate and thorough intervention that will always be in the best interest of the child.
Our Mental Health Team coordinate the whole school approach to student’s wellbeing and mental health, and ensure the best possible support is embedded throughout the Academy. This team is:
- Mr L Dennis – Wellbeing Lead
- Mrs C Maun – Safeguarding and SEMH Lead
- Miss G Wilson – Behaviour for Learning Manager
- Ms R Buonocore – PSHCE Teacher (Primary)
- Miss M Beaumont – PSHCE Coordinator (Secondary)
Within this section you will note a number of self help and support guides to access if you are concerned about a child or young person’s mental health. Also included in this section are links to advice and support networks if you need further support in managing or supporting a child with their mental health.
